LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Happy 4th of July everyone! I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend.

Here are a few Red, White and Blue things I am loving for a fabulous 4th!

THE RED…
For a refreshing RED libation, make fresh watermelon spritzers. The Food Network’s Sandra Lee sent GLAM SLAM a yummy recipe from her cookbook “Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade Gatherings.”

2 cups seedless watermelon chunks
6 ounces club soda
2 tablespoons limeade frozen concentrate
1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
10 ice cubes
1 tablespoon sugar
Whole strawberries, for garnish

Combine all ingredients in blender. Blend for 40 seconds. Pour into glasses. Garnish with strawberries. Makes 2 drinks. For an adult version add two shots of melon-flavored vodka.

…A LITTLE MORE RED
I am in charge of bringing dessert this weekend and I am going with one of my absolute childhood faves - RED Velvet Cake, which happens to look very patriotic this time of the year! It’s no surprise that the insanely popular Sprinkles makes a mean red velvet cupcake and now the company has an old-school ice cream style delivery truck that drives around Los Angeles selling the coveted cakes. Dangerous!

…WHITE
Diddy is throwing his 15th! “WHITE Party” this 4th. Co-hosted by Ashton Kutcher, it’s at a private estate in Beverly Hills. You don’t need a Diddy-sized paycheck to throw a White Party though. Serve a menu of all “white” foods. I did this at a party where I had mozzarella balls, cauliflower and white asparagus dipped in a ranch type dressing for munchies… vanilla cupcakes, white chocolate and white M&M’s for sweets. White parties also make planning what to wear super easy!

…MORE WHITE
