LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Elizabeth Taylor has asked her fans for prayers as she heads into the hospital for a procedure on her heart.
The legendary actress used her Twitter account to break the news she is going in for surgery.
“Dear Friends, I would like to let you know before it gets in the papers that I am going into the hospital to have a procedure on my heart,” she wrote on Tuesday afternoon.
The film star, whose credits include “Cleopatra” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” explained she needs the procedure to make her heart work “better.”
“It’s very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better,” she wrote.
The Dame signed off her Tweets by asking for prayers.
“Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate,” she wrote. “I’ll let you know when it’s all over. Love you, Elizabeth.”
