Production on “24” will be taking a few hours off, the Los Angeles Times reported.
According to the newspaper, 20th Century Fox has halted production on the show while star Kiefer Sutherland undergoes surgery for a ruptured cyst by his kidney.

“American Idol” will kick off its ninth year with a two-night season premiere in January.
Fox announced Tuesday that the hit singing contest, which last year produced a battle between winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert, will return Tuesday, Jan. 12, and Wednesday, Jan. 13.

You haven’t heard the last of former President Charles Logan on “24.”
FOX announced Monday that actor Gregory Itzin will reprise his role as the disgraced chief executive next year on the eighth season of the TV action drama.
Itzin will be acting in several episodes alongside current President Allison Taylor, played by Cherry Jones, when the show returns Jan. 17.
